Only Birds Fly

“Shit, Orli, you really gonna go through with this?” Elijah said in awe, eyes wide as he looked at Orli being prepared for his jump.

“It’s not dangerous,” Orlando answered, grinning from ear to ear.

“Yeah, not dangerous. Of course it’s not dangerous, you’re just jumping off a bridge. There is not a thing that could go wrong – except that the rope could snap, a sudden tide could drown you…” Viggo said.

“Uhm… in case you haven’t noticed, the canyon’s dried up,” Orli pointed out.

“So? There could be quicksand you can drown in. Or… the rope could be too long, your back could protest or you could hit a wall,” Viggo encouraged.

“Or, he could hit a bird,” Elijah offered helpfully.

Yeah, right. Hit a bird. That would be a sight! Just a minute… I *am* a bird! Shit! Who's gonna hit me? Uh Gaaawd! I don't wanna die. I'm too young to die. *Please*, just don't hit me. Hit someone else. *Anyone* else! Over there. Him! Hit him!

I'm telling you! Humans really *are* dangerous! My *best* friend died just a few weeks ago. He was hit by an aeroplane. It was sad. Really sad. Who the fuck lets them fly so low?! The aeroplanes, I mean. And allows them to land on our meeting place… That's just *not fair*.

"Mind the gap!"

What the f…? Change direction! NO!! Not that way! That's the fucking wall! *Change direction*.  Jeez, that was fucking close! You humans really should look before you jump. And yes, before you jump you *should* know how to *fucking fly*. Yeah! Yesterday this one guy jumped down, screaming even louder than this one, before hitting the bottom of the canyon. It wasn't a pretty sight. No, it definitely wasn't. Lots of blood. Everywhere. God, humans really were insa…

Fuuuuuck! What the *hell* was that! A human. Yeah. *Right*. Usually they were poor flyers but this one really knew what he was doing. Wow! Even I'm not as good as he is. Flying straight up…! And his fucking *feet* first. *That* really needs practice. Crap, he's coming back down again. Gotta go!
